About Survivors Discuss

Survivors Discuss was created from a need for survivors to share their experiences with high control and toxic religion. 

With the release of the Shiny Happy People Docuseries from Prime, high control religion survivors Cait West, Kit Kennedy, and Shari Smith (along with Tia Levings) decided that they wanted to process the series in a way that invited other survivors of high control religion to join in and find validation to hear that others had been where they’ve been.

Initially, we’d decided it would be a one and done podcast special, but after further discussion, we decided that there are so many more stories that need to be told and held in a community forum, so we decided to keep this thing going.

Stand For?

Survivors Discuss exists to create conversation around the big issues of high control and toxic religion in a community forum. Each episode has a specially gathered panel of guests with experience in that episode’s topic. In this way, we hope to empower survivors to share their stories and raise awareness of what is happening inside these corrupt organizations . We also desire to use this platform to let other survivors hear for themselves that they are not alone in their experiences.
